Delaware

State Profile

Delaware has the highest offshore wind generating potential of any East Coast state. Its coastline would allow for the development of 2.9 GW of offshore wind power, generating more than 130% of the state's current electricity generation and powering approximately 937,000 average homes annually. In 2008, Delaware unanimously approved in the nation's first offshore wind power purchase agreement (PPA) between NRG Bluewater Wind, LLC and Delmarva Power & Light Company. (This contract has since been terminated.)
